We Were Liars Book Review

“We were warm and shivering, and young and ancient, and alive.” - E. Lockhart, We Were Liars

I have read hundreds of books in the short time I have been alive, but never in my life did I come across a book so beautifully written that it took my breath away. From the first page Lockhart grabs the readers attention pulling you in so quickly that you have no choice but to finish the book in one sitting.

I was consumed with the need to know what happened. Lockhart keeps you questioning every new detail she slowly reveals. Her writing style is so beautifully descriptive that the reader can easily paint vivid pictures in their mind.

The book jacket gives nothing away and when people ask me to describe what it is about all I can say is that they won’t regret reading it. Lockhart’s story brings in a variety of heavy themes that made me step back and really question my own life.

Lockhart’s characters are each a broken masterpiece that everyone can relate to. We Were Liars is like nothing i’ve ever read before, and the end is one you will never see coming. For someone looking for a quick read with a thick and well written plot I suggest you stop what you’re doing and take half a day to read this book. It could change your life. I know it changed mine.
